Our Services
Fluency / Stuttering Therapy
What Is Fluency / Stuttering Therapy?
Fluency therapy supports children and young people who experience stuttering disruptions to the flow of speech such as repetitions, prolongations and blocks. Stuttering is a recognised communication disability that often begins in early childhood.

Who Is This For?
Children and young people who repeat sounds/words, stretch sounds out, or "get stuck" when trying to talk, with or without visible tension for months, worsens, or affects confidence, participation, or willingness to speak.

Benefits
Evidence‑based therapy can help reduce stuttering frequency and support more confident communication in daily activities such as answering questions, reading aloud and talking with peers. Therapy can also include support for managing negative feelings about speaking and navigating challenging situations like presentations or phone calls.

How We Help
What To Expect
A speech pathologist will assess stuttering severity, impact and risk factors, then recommend an age‑appropriate program such as the Lidcombe Program for preschool children or other evidence‑based approaches for older children and adolescents. Sessions may involve parent‑delivered practice at home, clinic‑based training, and strategies for speaking in different situations.
Our Techniques
We use evidence based programs such as Lidcombe‑style behavioural feedback for young children and fluency‑shaping or stuttering‑modification strategies for older clients. Parent training and collaboration with schools are built into intervention where appropriate.
Real Life Targets
While fluency therapy focuses on speech flow, we also monitor and support language organisation, word retrieval and pragmatic skills where they interact with stuttering in conversation.
